Maureen Joyce owns MJ’s Café, a lunch spot specializing in daily homemade vegetarian soups, salads, quiches, sandwiches, and desserts. The selections change according to what produce is locally available. Maureen always had the idea of owning a small café like the ones she went to while she was studying in France and Italy. While living in France, Maureen fell in love with going to the markets daily and still looks forward to starting her Thursdays by going to the Red Stick Farmers Market. Maureen buys as many local products as possible, from pecan oil to Louisiana sweet tea to Iverstine Family Farm fresh eggs. Maureen makes the conscious decision to support local, so others can too.
